Dawn Fantasia was sworn in as an assemblywoman in January 2024.
She graduated from Wallkill Valley Regional High School in Hamburg and earned her degree in 1995 from Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. In 2014, she completed a master’s in educational leadership from Capella University on a working mother scholarship.
Since 2007, Fantasia has worked in public and charter schools as a teacher, principal and district administrator. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2010 at Bergen Arts and Science Charter School in Garfield, where she now directs English and math enrichment programs.
She served on the Sussex County Board of Commissioners from 2018 to 2023 after three years on the Franklin Borough Council, where she was president in 2018. She also served on the borough's planning and zoning boards and volunteers to help seniors and veterans.
Fantasia co-chairs the Angling, Hunting, and Conservation Caucus, which advocates for outdoor enthusiasts. She is a member of the Manufacturing, Disability, and American-Irish legislative caucuses and was elected to the Sussex County Republican Committee.
She resides in Franklin Borough and raised three children as a single parent. In her spare time, she enjoys target shooting, hunting, fishing, clamming, and farming.
