So you’re one of the many New Jerseyans bombarded by deranged emails from “Jersey Conservative” or “Sussex Watchdog”?
Take a second and educate yourself on what it is you’re reading.
First and foremost, it’s critical that you know that both blogs are run – and largely authored – by a paid political consultant, Bill Winkler, who lives in New Hope, Pennsylvania. His business model is quite literally: hire me or I will attack you in emails and blog posts.
In other words, these blogs are:
The attacks range from old news to fake news to personal smears. Some of Bill Winkler’s favorite targets are the District 24 Republican legislators, as well as two military veterans, Assemblyman Brian Bergen and Sussex County Republican Chairman Joe Labarbera.
What do all these targets have in common? They refuse to pay or work with Bill Winkler.
Want to know the worst part?
Of all the false, derogatory attacks Bill Winkler has shared in his email newsletter, none are worse than his defense of Sussex County Commissioner Bill Hayden who was recently exposed for his egregious stolen valor.
William Hayden claimed to serve in the Navy SEALS and that he was part of the team that killed Pablo Escobar in South America. Sadly, Hayden never served in the SEALS. He never served in the Navy. He never served in any branch of the military. It was all completely made up, for his personal, political, and financial gain.
Bill Winkler – the author of the crazy emails you receive – defends this Stolen Valor because that’s what he’s paid to do. Click here for a more detailed explanation from the executive board of the Sussex County Republican Committee (all actual veterans or the mother of an active duty Marine). We should also point out that Winkler's daily rants are now appearing on the "Sussex GOP" Facebook page, which was hijacked away from - and is in no way affiliated with - the Sussex County Republican Committee. You just can't make it up!
Why are we sharing this?
A handful of good Republicans have called, emailed or texted with concerns, unaware that these emails and blogs are run by a paid political consultant with a very specific, very deranged, very anti-conservative agenda. We are hopeful this helps to clear up those questions and sets the record straight.
Long story, short: Next time you hear us accused of something terrible via one of these anonymous blogs… consider the source…
And then hit delete.

- NOT an authority on New Jersey, Sussex County, or Conservatives
- ARE written and emailed to you for the sole purpose of injuring specific Republicans
