The school-funding plan announced today by Assembly Republican Leader John DiMaio requires the state to fund schools up to their adequacy budget and for school districts to lower their tax levy dollar-for-dollar with an increase in state aid. Given the gross inequality in state aid, especially in northwest New Jersey, this plan would be a dramatic boost for District 24 schools. It's an important first step in taking back control of our schools, from the State's abdication of funding to its extreme mandates on inappropriate curriculum.
